Event Information

Description

In this webinar, we will be going over the basics to help you start top rope climbing!

At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • put on and secure a standard climbing harness

  • tie-in to harness using a figure-8 knot

  • safely belay climbers on top-ropes using a tube-style device (ATC, Reverso, and other similar devices)

  • use common climbing commands

  • fall safely on top-rope

  • identify key risks associated with climbing indoors and outdoors

Please note that ratings will not be given out during this webinar, but it will prepare you to get tested!

We recommend having the following gear ready: harness, belay device, and rope. If you don't have climbing rope, please try to find some other kind of rope to practice tying knots in!
