Event Information

Description

Hello Hoofers! Are you someone who belongs to the Femme+ climbing community looking for an opportunity to climb with fellow female crushers? Please see the details from the coordinator of BetaBust below:

The event's purpose is to bring together women, transgender, cis, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming climbers who feel comfortable in spaces that center around the experiences of women, for a weekend of climbing and camaraderie. We also partner with a locally owned guiding service to offer both learning opportunities and guided climbing to our participants.

Last year, climbers from across the Midwest, including Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin registered for Beta Bust. We also had our first sponsored prize giveaway from Arc'teryx Chicago! We were thrilled to see people connecting around the campfire and during our climbing-themed bingo. We had trad climbers, boulderers, top rope climbers, and students who joined guided climbs or skills clinics. Although Devil's Lake does not have bolted sport climbing, sport climbers are welcome to check out several options only a short drive away.

The cost of the event is $35, plus the cost of any guided clinics that participants choose to attend, such as intro to trad climbing, anchor-building refresher, or guided climbing. The $35 registration fee includes the cost of camping at Skillet Creek Campground for the weekend. For more information about the event, check out our website or join our Facebook Event.

Registration for both Beta Bust and the optional guided clinics is required by September 1. Guided clinics have limited capacities, so interested climbers should sign up early. Participants can register for both Beta Bust and any optional clinics on our website.

Please sign up on Rechub and the above website if you are interested in one or all of the days. From this, HMC will coordinate carpools to the event.
